Oregon schools will receive $8,265,004 million in federal grants to help provide students with safe and supportive learning environments and opportunities to support their success.
US Senators from Oregon Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden announced the funding.
“Parents and students deserve peace of mind that while at school, students are safe and supported, while learning important skills and knowledge that will support them throughout their schooling and their adult lives,” Merkle said. “This funding from the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act will go a long way in promoting the well-being of Oregon students and providing them with the crucial supports necessary for their long-term success.
Governor Kate Brown has earmarked $3.3 million for school safety and violence prevention.
