The county wants to hear from you to discuss plans for federal funds that support community projects and programs for people in need of services. Housing and Community Development Services invites community members and local nonprofit representatives to provide feedback on the department’s annual federal entitlement plan, which covers federal grants available for housing and urban development.

Federal grant programs include the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships, Emergency Solutions Grants, and Housing Opportunities for People Living with HIV/AIDS. These federal programs provide funds to cover things like neighborhood revitalization and community development projects and housing assistance for people who are homeless and those living with HIV/AIDS. San Diego County receives approximately $12 million annually in federal funding for housing and community development.

Housing and Community Development Services is hosting in-person and virtual public meetings July 20-26. Meetings are an opportunity to identify community needs and connect with potential candidates. They will cover information on how to apply for CDBG, including eligibility requirements as well as the focus of the annual plan and its four federal grant programs and past federally funded projects. Each meeting will include time for a question and answer session.

Community members attending in-person meetings should follow county COVID-19 precautions to slow the spread of the virus, including:

  • Take other precautions, such as washing your hands and staying away from visibly sick people
