Sabah CM Hopes Federal Constitution Amendment Will Lead to Full Restoration of MA63 | Malaysia

KOTA KINABALU, Dec 15 ― Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor is confident that the passage of the Federal Constitution Amendment Bill 2021 will pave the way for the full restoration of the 1963 agreement with Malaysia (MA63).

Describing it as “momental”, Hajiji said it was a significant sign that the bill had passed parliament unanimously.

“We have been persistent on this and the MA63 Special Council chaired by the Prime Minister has responded to requests submitted by Sabah and Sarawak,” he said, adding that with the establishment of the MA63 core principles .

He added that steps can now be taken to go further in restoring Sabah’s rights in the Federation of Malaysia.

Hajiji reiterated that the MA63 Special Council was crucial as it was a manifestation of the will of the government of the day to sit down and resolve related issues as Keluarga Malaysia.

He assured Sabahans that the state government would not stop there but would continue to pursue the restoration of state rights through the MA63 Special Council.

Yesterday, the Federal Constitution Amendment Bill 2021 tabled by Minister of Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar was unanimously passed by MPs by block vote in the outcome of the second and third readings.
